The SEC has released EDGAR 25.2.2, which incorporates requirements for EDGAR Next, the SEC’s security, access, and account management improvements made to the EDGAR system. Enrollment in and compliance with EDGAR Next is now necessary to file on the EDGAR system. To be in compliance, filing entities must be enrolled in EDGAR Next by December 19, 2025, or have had their Form ID application for EDGAR access granted on or after March 24, 2025.
Pursuant to EDGAR Next, the following changes have been implemented:
- Individual account credentials from Login.gov and multifactor authentication will be required to access the EDGAR Filer Management, EDGAR Online Forms, and EDGAR Filing websites, instead of the filer’s CIK and password as was previously required
- To file and take actions on the filer’s EDGAR account, individuals must also have permissions for the filer as a user or account administrator. Role-based filing permissions will be validated for the individual submitting the filing, instead of filing permissions being checked at the entity level as was previously required
- The CIK and CCC remain codes needed to file on EDGAR. Legacy EDGAR passwords and PMACs have been discontinued.
- Optional Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) are available to filers for machine-to-machine interaction with EDGAR
EDGAR Release 25.2.2 reflects all functionality available in the Beta testing environment. For additional information and resources, please visit the EDGAR Next webpage on sec.gov. Further guidance pertaining to these changes is available in the EDGAR Filer Manual, Vol. I (Version 42) and Vol. II (Version 76).
The current version of the GoFiler Suite (6.2a) includes support for the EDGAR 25.2.2 release. We recommend you keep your software up-to-date to receive the latest changes from the SEC.
